RewriterApp ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website at rewriterapp.com and provides free typing tests and typing games. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our website and browser-based typing tools.

Summary

RewriterApp is designed to work without user accounts. Your typing scores, personal bests, achievements, settings and related progress are stored locally in your web browser using localStorage. We do not operate a database to collect or store your typing results on our servers.

Information we do not collect for the typing application

When you use the RewriterApp typing games, we do not require you to:

• Create an account or provide a name, email address or password
• Submit your typing scores to our servers
• Register to save personal bests or achievements

Game results, progress statistics, achievement status, recently used text identifiers, tortoise-race progression and user preferences are saved under a versioned localStorage key in your browser (rewriterapp_typing_v1). This data remains on your device unless you export it, import a backup elsewhere, or clear your browser storage.

Information stored on your device

The following may be stored locally in your browser when you use RewriterApp:

• Typing game results (WPM, accuracy, duration, game mode and related statistics)
• Personal bests and recent result history
• Achievement unlock status and streak information
• Tortoise race progression and opponent settings
• Application settings such as word highlight, sound effects and reduced motion preferences
• Recently used typing passage identifiers to reduce repetition
• First played and last played dates

You can export this data as a JSON file, import a previously exported file, or clear all stored records using the Records Management controls on the homepage. Clearing browser data for this site will permanently remove locally stored records from that browser.

Information we do not receive from your typing activity

Because typing results are processed and stored in your browser, we do not automatically receive the text you type, your scores, reaction times, keystroke patterns or personal bests. Typing content is loaded from static JSON files hosted on the website and is not submitted back to us when you play.

Server and hosting data

Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information when you request a page or file. This may include your IP address, browser type, referring URL, requested page, date and time of access, and similar server log data. We use this information only as needed to operate, secure and maintain the website. We do not link standard server logs to your typing scores because those scores are not transmitted to us.

Cookies and similar technologies

RewriterApp does not set authentication cookies or require login cookies to use the typing games. The application relies primarily on browser localStorage for on-device record keeping. Your browser may also store cached copies of pages, stylesheets, scripts and JSON content to improve performance.

We use Google Analytics (Google tag, measurement ID G-Y221XM7QVL) to understand how visitors use the website, such as which pages are viewed and general traffic patterns. Google Analytics may set cookies or use similar technologies and may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited and referring URL. This information is processed by Google in accordance with Google's policies. Typing scores and personal bests are not sent to Google Analytics because they remain in your browser's localStorage. Children's privacy

RewriterApp is intended for a general audience and may be used by younger users with appropriate supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through account registration because no registration is offered. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

Data retention

Data stored in your browser remains there until you delete it using the in-app clear function, export and replace it, or remove site data through your browser settings. We do not retain copies of your typing records on our servers.

International users

RewriterApp is available online to users in different countries. Because typing records are stored locally in your browser, you remain in control of that data on your device. If you access the site from outside your home country, standard server log information may be processed where our hosting infrastructure is located.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal information. In practice, RewriterApp gives you direct control through your browser:

• Access: View your progress, recent results and achievements on the homepage
• Portability: Export your records as a JSON backup file
• Deletion: Clear all records in the app or remove site data in your browser
• Settings: Change preferences such as word highlight and reduced motion at any time

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the website and its static resources. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. Because your typing records are stored locally, you should also protect access to your device and browser profile, especially on shared computers.

Third-party links

Our website may link to external pages in future. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites and encourage you to review their policies separately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of RewriterApp after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
